TAWANG ARUNACHAL PRADESH

It is the most beautiful hill station in North-Eastern state of India that is in Tawang Arunachal Pradesh. It is the smallest of the 16 administrative districts of Arunachal Pradesh. Tawang, also known as Dawang is the birth place of Dalai Lama. It is situated at the altitude of 3048km (approx.) in Arunachal Pradesh while China claims it to be the part of Southern Tibet. This place is well known for its scenic beauty and monasteries. It is the tourist spot which will give you inner peace as it combines the natural beauty with spiritualism.

Best time to visit Tawang:

Summers are best to visit this place when temperature is between 5 & 25 degrees Celsius. One can visit Tawang from March till October.

How to reach Tawang Arunachal Pradesh?

By Road

APSRTC (Arunachal Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation) and other private firms provide regular bus or cab services from Tejpur, Bhalukpong, Nagaon, Missamari, Dhula, East Kameng, Itanagar, Sagali, Udalguri and others.

By Train

Rangapar Railway Station is nearest from Tawang (383km).

By Air

Salonibari Airport in Tejpur is the nearest airport from Tawang Arunachal Pradesh which connects Kolkata and Guwahati. Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati is the nearest international airport connecting major Indian cities and some international cities like Paro and Bangkok.

Time and Money Requirements:

It will be at least 7days tour requiring minimum Rs20000 per person.

Things to remember while visiting Tawang:

As the weather here is unpredictable so be prepared for delays and plan your trip accordingly.
Roads connecting Tawang are not in good condition. Tawang tourism
If you are a vegetarian then keep in mind to take ready to eat food.
Be calm with locals as they are not well versed with Hindi or English but otherwise they are very friendly and helpful.

Sela Pass: This pass is the only way to reach Tawang by road. It is the only mountain pass in the world which is moterable and is known as ‘Heaven on earth’.
Nuranang Falls: Being the most spectacular waterfall in the country it gives a beautiful and hypnotizing experience. This place provides you total serenity and enjoyable moments. It is also known as BTK (Bap Ten Kang) waterfall.
Madhuri lake (Sangetsar lake): It is in remote location but this lake captivates your mind with its scenic beauty. This lake appeared in Bollywood movie Koyla after which it was named as Madhuri Lake on the name of its lead actress.
Gorichen Peak: It is the highest peak of Arunachal Pradesh. This place is a good trekking spot. It is locally known as Sa-Nga Phu which means Kingdom of Deity. According to local people belief, it is one of the sacred peaks protecting the place from all the negative energies.
Tawang-War Memorial: This place is a commemorative destination which remarks the sacrifice of all the soldiers of the 1962 Sino-India war.
